Simple Present Tense




SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE

Use to discribe habitual action/routine, and general truth, by using verb 1 (s/es).

There are two kind form by Simple Present Tense, first Verbal and secound Nominal.


Simple Present Tense (Verbal)


Simple Present (Nominal)

(+) S+V1 (s/es)+O/C
(-) S+Do/Does+Not+V1+O/C
(?) Do/Does+S+V1+O/C+ ?
(+) S+to be//am,is,are//+Adjective/Noun
(-)S+to be//am,is,are//+Not+Adjective/Noun
(?) to be//am,is,are//+S+Adjective/Noun+?
Example :
1.
(+) They Speak English fluently
(-) They Do not speak English fluently
(?) Do They speak English fluently ?

2.
(+) She goes to school everyday
(-) She Does not go to school everyday
(?) Does she go to school everyday ?

Example :
1.
(+) We are smart student
(-) We are not smart student
(?) Are we smart student ?

2.
(+) He is genius lecturer
(-) He is not genius lecturer
(?) Is He genius lecturer

n  With Verbs ending in : o, s, x, sh, ch, takes –es.
Example : Go--Goes, Teach---Teaches, Kisses, Fixes, Washes

n  With Verbs ending in vowel +y, it take –s.
Example : Play---Plays.

n  With Verbs ending in consonant +y, it change –y into -i , and takes –es.
Example : Study--- Studies

 The times signal in Simple present tense usually use adverbs of frequency.
 
Usually, often, seldom, sometimes, always, everyday, everyweek, once a week, ever, never, rarely, three times a day, normally, etc.

Subject,
They, We, I, You --use auxiliary Do/Do not/ Don’t.
He, She, It, --use auxiliary Does/Does not/Doesn’t

Use tobe : I---am, //They, We, You---Are. //He,She, it, John/Vera,---Is
